The Great Migration follows the circle of life. It takes place all year around in different areas of the Serengeti. From January to February the big herds are located in the Southern Serengeti (Maswa region) for the calving season. They start their journey through the Serengeti plains via the Western Serengeti (Grumeti region) till they reach the Northern Serengeti (Mara Region) where they cross the border and the Mara River in August to October at the border to Kenya.
