This is probably the most beautiful route up Kilimanajro. Machame, also known as the “Whisky Route”, is suited for the more adventurous hikers. It's also rewarding with the sunset at Shira and the lovely view of Kibo at the Barranco Wall. This route also takes you high to Lava Tower (4630m) on Day 3, and brings you down by 700m for an overnight at Barranco Camp (3950m). This acclimatization is recommended for a successful summit climb by applying the rule of 'climb high and sleep low."
