Samburu is a home to the rare Northern 'special five' The gravy zebras, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and the beisa oryx. Large elephants' herds, endangered wild dogs and big cats are also found in high densities here. The three big cats care also found here i.e. the lion, cheetah and African leopard are all found inside the reserve.
