The park encompasses a vast expanse of wilderness that is home to a remarkable array of wildlife species that are rare or absent elsewhere in Ethiopia including Elephants (Loxodonta africana), White-Eared Kob, Buffalo (Syncerus caffer), Giraffes (Giraffa camelopardalis), Lions (Panthera leo), Leopards (Panthera pardus), and Spotted Hyenas (Crocuta crocuta).
