This safari starts from Amboseli National Park, formerly Maasai Amboseli Game Reserve, in Kajiado County, Kenya. It is 392 sq km in size at the core of an 8,000 sq km ecosystem that spreads across the Kenya-Tanzania border. The local people are mainly Maasai. The park is home to 400 bird species and 47 types of raptors. The park protects 2 of the 5 main swamps, including a dried-up pleistocene lake and semi-arid vegetation. It is also Kenya's second most popular national park after Masai Mara.
