Standing at 4,562.13 meters (14,968 feet), it ranks as the fifth highest mountain in Africa, depending on the definition used. Mount Meru serves as the topographic centerpiece of Arusha National Park, with its fertile slopes rising above the surrounding savanna. These slopes support a rich forest ecosystem, home to diverse wildlife, including nearly 400 bird species.
