The Lemosho route crosses the entire Shira Plateau from west to east in a pleasant, it is approximately 70 km/ 42 miles from gate to gate relatively flat hike. Crowds are low until the route joins the Machame route near Lava Tower. Then the route traverse’s underneath Kilimanjaro's Southern path known as the Southern Circuit before summiting from Barafu. Access to the trail begins with a long drive from Moshi or Arusha to Londorossi Gate. This can take three to four hours.
