The prison island was built in 1893 as a prison for the resistant slaves, letter on it was used as the quarantine camp where the traders to Zanzibar were to pass there for medical checks before entering Zanzibar. The island is now popular for its endangered species of giant land tortoise. The Stone Town Tour is 2-hours of walking around the city. We will give you the chance to explore the old stone town with its history, monuments, museums and culture, including the former slave market.
