The Marangu Route, commonly known as the Coca-Cola Route, is popular because it can be completed in fewer days and offers permanent sleep huts at the campsites. Summit night from Kibo Hut is steep and passes Gilman’s Point to Uhuru Peak. Although this is a shorter route, it has a steeper incline and less time for acclimatization, resulting in a lower summit success rate. The Route is the only one where the ascent and descent share the same path, which leads to higher traffic on the trail.
