We went to Tsavo in 2009 as part of a trip to Kenya. We stayed in the Ngulia lodge and the Voi safari lodge. Both were excellent locations, very comfortable with stunning views. At the Ngulia after enjoying cocktails whilst watching the sunset from your balcony you can then can share supper with a leopard who comes every night to eat the meat put out on a tree for it, just yards from your dining table - absolutely wonderful. At the Voi there is a wonderful watering hole where we watched buffalo and a Mother elephant and its baby come and drink whilst enjoying panoramic views across the Savanna. All this and the cutest little rock hyrax you have ever seen. We spent 2 days driving through East and West Tsavo with an expert guide and driver and saw the Big 5 as well as Zebras, Giraffe, wallowing hippos we watched a pride of lions at a drinking at dawn and much much more, highly recommended. Our driver and guide were knowledgeable and informative and above all friendly.

Tsavo, east and west, is an exraordinary destination that is reasonably accessable to the normal tourist. It is really two parks in one, as it is split by the Niarobi to Mombasa road. What is the first thing that is striking is the deep rich colour of the ground, almost red. Then it's the animals. You'll be guarenteed to see zebra and giraffe. Almost certain to lions and elephants. The two places that I really would recommend are Voi lodge and Kilaguni lodge as places to visit and stay overnight. And that's all I'm gonna say as I wouldn't want to spoil 'em for anybody!

Huge, enormous park (2/3th of Belgium !), so it has everything - but know where to go, or you might drive for hours without seeing a lot.
