It was one of the best trips in Africa.

Uganda is not famous for its wildlife, but the people, the scenery, the nature, the green, the lakes and the gorillas of Silverback ... are the best combination for a safari. Highly recommended.

The most exhilarating, wildlife and cultural experience that will stay with me forever.

I was met at the airport and after a bit of a search trying to read the name sign I found my guide/driver.
He was excellent throughout with his animal knowledge, conversation and hospitality. The driving was as comfy as the roads allowed and allowed perfect views from the front and once the roof was removed from the rear.

Via Via guest house was a perfect location from/to the airport and has a great eco policy. Buhoma lodge, Enjojo lodge and QE bushlosge safari tent were great. Food and beds were all ideal.

There was amazing scenery although due to mist/overcast conditions I wasn't able to fully appreciate them. I loved passing through villages and the Bwindi community walk was brilliant- a must! This was an additional extra and because the gorilla trekking finished early I had time for this. The local guides were superb answering all my many questions. Walking through the countryside; visiting the tea and banana plantations; healer man experience; meeting children as well as seeing the old village tribal traditions was fascinating. Visiting the woman's cooperative group at the end was delightful- so good to see happy women who have had a tough life. What a great day!

The safari drives were very rewarding- lions, tree climbing lions, elephant and hippo; yellow baboon, Vervet as well as black and white Colobus monkeys; common and Defassa waterbuck, bushbuck & Kob; buffalo, warthog, Nile monitor and crocodile; lots of birds including hammerkop, cattle, little and great egret, black backed, squacco and grey heron, fish eagle, helmeted guinea fowl, pied and woodland kingfisher, sacred and hadaba ibis, yellow billed, marubu and saddle billed stork, Egyptian geese, spoonbill, great white pelican, black backed and grey headed gulls, spur winged and crowned plovers/lapwing, hoopoe, long tailed starling, lilac breasted roller, black winged stilt, cormorant, tern and black kite.

And finally saving the best until last was the gorilla trekking in Bwindi forest. The permits are not cheap but I got my moneys worth plus a lot more. The 'Ride for a woman' greeting dance started the whole event off brilliantly. Our briefing was professional and demonstrated how they seriously they took their role and respinsibilities towards the gorillas and their habitat. As I was in a group of older people we tracked and found the closest Rushegura gorilla group within an hour. 1 hour of observation was plenty to observe behaviours and interaction amongst the group. Seeing the juveniles playing; baby feeding from its mother before exploring around the silverback; grooming; tree climbing and eating figs; movements through the forest; and the silverback walking 5-8 metres away from me were wonderful. I felt quite emotional when the baby took hold of my trouser leg, thinking I was one of the group, as it passed by me! Such a great 1 hour of my life.

The only one thing I didn't do that I should have added to my itinerary was a chimpanzee safari but we can't be greedy.

I would recommend Buffalo Safari Camps travel company to anyone visiting Uganda and hope to return one day. Thanks!

Very good wildlife, a lot of animals! Beautiful scenery! We had very nice weather! Nice food, very friendly people! Very nice guide-named Frank! Transportation was very nice on a lot of dirt roads!
Kidepo NP is far away but very worth of going there! Very nice valley, very good wildlife!
Murchinson NP is a must see!
ZIWA sanctuary is also a must see location! We had 7 rhinos there!
Safari still going on but i am sure that it will stay very exciting!

Gorilla trekking and safari

Exceptional trip with very accommodating, professional and informative driver and guide, Levan. The gorilla trekking surpassed expectations as we got up close with the family and took incredible photographs. The accommodation was very comfortable throughout, with the Queen Elizabeth NP lodge a particular highlight. The stop off in Lake Mburo NP was arguably the best safari of our trip and was worth doing, while the Ishasha sector safari had very limited wildlife. If we were doing this trip again we would possibly leave off this part as the road down to Queen Elizabeth NP wasn't great from here. Overall, an incredible experience which did not disappoint!

Wildlife is amazing!
The weather in December was much hotter that I expected. Food in lodges are amazing. People are friendly and kind. We always felt safe (family with 1 kid), not just in the lodges but when we wandered around alone in the villages (we used public taxis too).
Roads are dirty so transportation is slow.
Our guide was really helpful, creative in problem solving, getting along with my kid very well, educated and well informed.

A tourist will see the Mountain Gorilla only found in these parts of Africa, willspot large water mammals, several cats including the tree climbing lions and over 100 bird species. Mouth taking water falls etc. The people are quite friendly, food is good, weather good throughout the year in most parts of the country.

We booked a private tour with Kajie Safari for 6 days and the experience has been most rewarding. Our lovely Riward guide has been a pleasure to share those days with him. We speak very little English and it has been a great help for us (he has been a great English teacher

Wonderful tour! Well organised and reliable tour company.

With some trepidation we investigated using a tour company based in Kampala rather than the UK. Caroline responded within 10 minutes to my initial online enquiry through this website, and from then on we knew we were in safe and competent hands. Caroline listened to our requirements and worked with us to develop a packed but amazing 17 night experience, taking in Murchison Falls, Kibale, QE Park and Ishasha, Bwindi, Mgahinga National Park, lake Mburo and 3 nights recovering on Lake Victoria! She then arranged Richard to be our guide and driver - an excellent recommendation. We found him to be safe and considerate at all times, extremely knowledgeable, not only about the wildlife but all things Ugandan, and a great 'spotter'.
All the accommodation Carol recommended, in mid range lodges, was clean, comfortable, well located and varied in style. We would not hesitate to recommend Gorilla Link Tours - any anxieties we initially had about working with a local tour company were totally unfounded and we discovered we had much to gain by doing so - not just financially but thanks to her wealth of knowledge and dedication to her customers.
