Zulu Nyala is situated in an area of Kwazulu Natal known for excellent birding. The park is, however, very small and the vegetation is a mix of indigenous and exotics. The guides focus more on finding flagship mammal species and might not really be expert birders themselves. There are no checklists, but there is a good variety of birds in the park. Migratory birds are present from November to April.
