Amazing value for money! Highly recommended
Wonderful experience on the 9-day Victoria Falls to Okavango Delta tour. Although the Victoria Falls were dryer than usual we still had a great time there with a private guide. The lodge was lovely with a beautiful pool. Chobe was amazing, great days full of activities. Camping in the Okavango delta was the best experience of my five week trip through Africa. The people, the bush walks, the stars, and just being there in nature without service or WiFi. It was special, and we saw way more animals than expected.
We mostly slept in tents, but that was fine and it adds to the experience. The operators were easy to reach and quick to respond to all your questions. Absolutely worth our money!
Professional and highly organised trip of a lifetime
We visited Victoria Falls, Chobe, Elephant Sands and then 3 days camping in the Okovango Delta in Botswana. Mr Oscar and his team looked after us from the moment our plane landed until we departed from Maun. We saw so so much wildlife and the opportunity to Mokoro in hte delta and walk in the bush with a highly experienced guide was magical. I cannot recommend them highly enough! Just tell him what you want to do and he wil organise it.
Zambezi Expedition Experience
We visited Zimbabwe to see Victoria Falls and safari in Hwange National Park. Our choice to coordinate our tour was Zambezi Expedition Travel and Tours. From the beginning Silence and Oscar were very helpful in providing all details requested and giving us a comfortable feeling about or upcoming ordeal. Once we arrived, driver Francis complemented the friendly vibes. During the tour, we were treated to magnificent views and experiences at both Victoria Falls and Hwange National Park. The accommodations (Victoria Falls Rainbow Hotel and Hwange Safari Lodge) we all first class. Our guided walk at Victoria Falls was accompanied by a Zambezi River sunset cruise. Both delighted us and brought forth heightened feelings of excitement. Likewise, the safari experience at Hwange was powerful and allowed us to view a large variety of wildlife in their natural habitat. Zambezi Expedition Travel worked with us to fine-tune our personal requirements and really helped make our total experience remarkable. This tour agency is highly recommended and, in our opinion, will provide a truly high value experience for the cost.
Zambezi Expedition Travel and Tours was helpful and accommodating.
Zambezi Expedition Travel and Tours did a great job planning our trip based on our needs and questions upfront and managing the tour while we were there. We weren't really sure what to expect so did have a lot of questions and were traveling with two children as well. We asked them to upgrade our camping accommodations and they made that work out. We asked them to reverse the direction of the tour they were advertising to meet our flight schedule and they made that work too. Oscar was very helpful and accommodating during his time with us and all their partners did a great job too. We were looking to keep our budget in line for this part of the trip as we had another week outside of the tour to fit into our budget and were happy with what we got for our money and would recommend this as an option to others looking to stretch there budget a little further.
Easy, relaxed, packed full of animals
Summary: Just finished an 8 day tour with Zambezi, starting in Victoria Falls and ending in Maun. I was a solo female traveller.
Company: This company was very easy to work with and we communicated via email and by whatsapp. Response was fast and informative. I recommend at least one person in your group has whatsapp if you're like me and like to double check pick up times or any other details. Silence and Nomvula were great at responding to any little queries I had throughout the trip and even changing parts at the last minute.
Arrival: I arrived a day before my safari and Nomvula helped me organise something to do on my spare day. I ended up going to Hwange which was spectacular. I was picked up at the VF airport by Nkasi who also detoured to help me and the other passengers get some sim cards in town.
Victoria Falls: I did the sunset boat cruise on the Zambezi River with Francis, who is very witty and friendly. And finally in VF of course the safari included a tour of the falls themselves. Mr B was a great guide and I got lucky as it was just the two of us so we had a really great chat and stopped at all the animals to take photos.
Elephant Sands: was a great place to spend the night as you can eat your meals just 20m away from where the elephants are hanging out. I also found a gecko and some cool bugs out at night while walking back to my chalet. This is a good place to facetime your family so they can watch the elephants with you 😀
Chobe: In Botswana most of the time was spent at Chobe National Park. There were two days with a boat ride and a game drive each day, but Zambezi helped me swap one of the boat drives to a game drive as I think I liked them better. Chobe is very packed with animals you will definitely see lots there. I was lucky enough to see both lions AND a leopard, as well as stacks of elephants, giraffe, impala, buffalo, birds, etc.
Okavango: Poling through the Okavango Delta was gorgeous, and the walk afterwards is highly recommended as it was the closest you'll get to animals while on foot. Arnold was a great guide.
Highlights: the animals (leopard, lions, elephants especially!), the tight-knit Zambezi team, chatting with the guides
Tips: accept every bottle of water someone offers you, you'll drink them all! Bring small change for tips - each section of the safari is organised separately with a different guide so I foolishly brought $80 for an 8 day safari (following the $10usd/day guide) but this was not very useful for each individual activity! Book a safari with some free time to chill out or do other activities eg the boma dinner. Download whatsapp. Write notes of the animals you see as I found I was forgetting the names of things (especially the birds). Buffet meals are often better than meals where you order off a menu in my experience. Have fun!
