A once in a life trip. It was made by the team and Robert as our lead guide.
One of the best experiences of my life.
I did the 8 day Lemosho route with Almighty Kilimanjaro. They were well organised from the start and I felt very safe in their hands throughout the trip.
Our lead guide Robert, and his team, made the trip for us. I highly recommended asking for Robert. His knowledge of the mountain is unmatched and it meant that we benefitted from incredible views / moments that others did not due to his understanding of the weather patterns.
I went solo (I’m 35) and joined two others (45) to make a group of 3. That was perfect for what I wanted, it had a more relaxed vibe and we were able to set a great pace throughout the trip. It also meant that we felt strong for the summit day and had acclimatised well.
Led by Robert and Liberat, we were able to time the summit push to perfection, getting to the top for sunrise.
It was an experience like none other 🌅
Other points to note, the food was great considering, you can borrow anything you need from the team and everyone from the porters to the cook made an effort to make us feel welcome. I could not recommend this team more!!
Pole Pole!
P.S. ask Robert about how he took Cheryl Cole and Garry Barlow and the comic relief team up Kili
Excellent choice of company to guide you up Kilimanjaro
I finished the 8-day Lemosho route yesterday. What an experience! I booked with Almighty Kilimanjaro, who were an excellent choice indeed. Unfortunately three of the people expected to come on the trip were unable to, so we had the luxury of it being three of us - me and my friend, and another guy who had booked on his own. We very quickly made lifelong friendships as we battled through the hiking!
Robert, Liberat (and trainee Colin) were extremely knowledgeable about the route, the flora and fauna, the mountain, the history and the risks of climbing the tallest point in Africa. Their many combined years of experience as porters and then guides on Kilimanjaro was obvious.
The porters were absolutely amazing. Every time we left a camp we would see them speeding past us half way through the day, readying the next camp and preparing for our arrival. When we got there we were always welcomed with smiles and congratulations, a drink and a sit down. We were ‘upsold’ a portable toilet which, quite frankly, was money extremely well spent, with the public ‘long drops’ becoming more disgusting the higher up the mountain we went!!!
Food was amazing. I don’t know how Chef Emil did it (he’s been doing it for 30 years!), but every meal was tasty, nutritious and set us up for the next hike.
The first 6 days were hard, but manageable. The team ensured we got out of camp early so we got the best of the weather - often the mountain clouded over at 10am and rained at 1pm, but we were always at the best place at the right time - and safely in our tents when the deluge started!!!
Hike from base camp to the top was the toughest thing I have ever done. 6 hours of almost non-stop trudging up at steep incline, but with nutritionally rich food in our bellies and guides encouraging us to push ourselves to our limits (but no further) all three of us made it to the top and I will forever be grateful for their support, guidance and encouragement.
Off the mountain: transfers to and from the airport were seamless, the hotel we stayed in was great and the team were even able to rapidly sort out our missing bags (they didn’t make our flight but arrived at JRO about 6 hours later!).
All in all, I am really pleased that we chose Almighty Kilimanjaro and I would recommend them to anyone who was thinking about this trip.
Excellent
We were 7people of groups: me, guide, porter and chef.
At every camp, chef made me good meals and guide took care of me every time.
Porter can bring heavy staffs and prepared warm tent at every camp
And I strongly recommend you to order to bring own toilet in the tour
The best Kili Family
What to expect while going on such a trip that could be one of the best experiment you would have in your life ?
--> A team like the one Almighty would provide you !
I went on a 7 days Lemosho tour with a team of 6 main members. Let me present them:
Chief guide: Muntari.
He would make sure that everything goes well during your entire trip. He was also the person who came with me for each trek. Don’t be afraid about the safety, he would control all your body abilities/measures (blood oxygenation, hearth rate, other signs…) and would have the stuff with him in case of emergency.
Apart of being super friendly, funny and smiling (like each person of this team), he has also a lot of knowledges about the environment. He would give you a lot of explanations about the fauna, flora and how Tanzania works in general. Don’t be afraid of asking him whatever comes in your mind (of course with respect). You would never have time to get bored. Try to ask him if he is a good Tanzanian DJ and you would cross the landscapes while singing different types of music with him.
Stomach engineer: Shabani.
A real professional ! Each meal I had was incredible. I was amazed about how he could cook so well in this environment and about the diversity of the plates. Apart for the breakfast, each meal was different. The food was tasty, well cooked and warm. He would provide you all your body needs for each day. Even at 4’600 meters high, don’t be afraid about the quantities, you would certainly eat more than you do at home! He would also accommodate the food to each regime for his guests. A 3 Michelin Stars traveling restaurant!
Amani:
He would be the one taking care of you at each camp. Whatever you need, he would find it. Giving you tea, coffee, popcorn, all the meals, refiling your bottles of water, making sure that your tent is on place etc…
His personality has really something special. He is like the father of the group, wise, calm and so kind and is particularly appreciated by everyone.
Omari / Fadhili / Chisano:
They were porters with amazing energy. They participate in making sure that the entire stuff needed for the entire crew arrive on time at the different camps. Omari took care of my personal bag and made sur that it would be at each camp before I even had the time to find my tent. They are full of energy and great guys that make you laugh each time you discuss or spend time with them.
In general, the crew was really the one that makes all of this real. Without them, nothing would be possible! The thing that touched me the most was the sincerity and happiness they could share between them and you. Hearing them laughing all the time was my best memory from them and that already miss me.
What is about the proper trip: I let you read by yourself on the multiple websites. I Can only encourage you to go for these kinds of experiences and to discover by yourself (of course, if you can).
Once again, a big Assante Sana to each and everyone of them and also to others like the driver that came to pick me up at the airport, the one who took us to the main gate and at the end of the trip and also, to Rasheedy for the seriousness of the organization and the action he adds on the management of the agency (Muntari and the others would know what I’m talking about :)
Good Job!
My Tour to the Kilimanjaro with Almighty Kilimanjaro was very good.
Everything was well organized and if equipment was missing, no problem, everything was there the next day.
A unique and unforgettable experience with my Guide John and the entire Crew!
Asante!
