An unforgettable Safari Adventure with Meektrails
We recently had an unforgettable adventure in Kenya with MeekTrails.
Our journey started in Nairobi, where Lucas, our amazing driver, picked us up from our hotel early in the morning. From the very beginning, Lucas was patient, cooperative, and genuinely caring.
Our first stop was Amboseli, where we spent two nights and saw a variety of animals in their natural habitat. Next, we moved on to Ol Pejeta for one night before heading to Samburu. Samburu was one of the highlights of our trip with its stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife.
We then had a wonderful stop at Lake Naivasha where we enjoyed observing hippos and a variety of birdlife. The boat tour was a great way to explore the area, and we appreciated the tranquility of the surroundings. It was a nice contrast to the more adventurous activities.
Another one of the most unique experiences was in Hell’s Gate National Park, where we took a cycling tour. It was incredible to cycle among giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, etc… and the contrast between the hot thermal waters and the cool waterfall in the gorge was a fascinating experience.
We concluded our adventure with three nights in the Maasai Mara, a park known for having the highest density of lions in Africa. We were fortunate to witness numerous lions, leopards, and cheetahs up close, making it an extraordinary wildlife encounter.
A special shoutout to our driver, Lucas, who went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience. He communicated with other guides to find animal hotspots.
We stayed in mid-range lodges throughout our journey, and we were happy with the comfort and service throughout the trip.
The food was mostly served as a buffet and was of reasonable quality and variety, which met our expectations.
Above all, we always felt safe and comfortable, which made the entire experience even more enjoyable.
A few personal tips:
— Throughout your journey, you’ll be visiting numerous souvenir shops. If you’re looking to buy souvenirs to take home, the best deals are in the shops in Nairobi.
However, if you decide to buy souvenirs along the way, be aware that the prices in the villages are often marked up triple high. While it can be seen as a way to support local communities, be prepared to pay much more than in Nairobi.
_ If you opt for the cycling tour in Hell’s Gate, which I highly recommend, make sure to test the bikes before you ride. Choose one that feels comfortable, with a properly fixed saddle that won’t cause discomfort on the gravel roads. This can have a big impact on your overall experience.
_ Make sure to ask for a Land Cruiser for your long safari, especially in Maasai Mara. We didn’t have one and at times we wished we had it.
These vehicles are perfect for navigating bumpy roads and off-road terrain, offering a much faster and more comfortable ride. Having a reliable Land Cruiser will greatly enhance your overall experience.
_ The most popular time to visit Maasai Mara is during the Great Migration, which occurs from June to August. However, during the high season, park entry fees are doubled, accommodation prices increase, and you’ll encounter larger crowds, which can take away from the exclusivity and immersion in nature. (Imagine 30-40 cars lining up at any point with the engine sound and everyone competing for the best spot to see the animals) Unpleasant!
We visited during the start of the low season (Feb-Mar), and it was a great choice. We enjoyed lower park fees, better deals on accommodations, and fewer crowds, which made our experience a lot more peaceful and affordable.
The weather was perfect, and we still got to see the wildlife you’d typically see in the high season, though, of course, we missed the Great Migration which was a worthwhile trade off.

Exceeds expectations
We had one of the most memorable trips with Meektrails. Their communication was always prompt, no matter the time of day. The itinerary was exceptionally well-planned, ensuring that activities were never repetitive. There was always something exciting to look forward to each day. We were truly fortunate to have Peter as our guide. This man has incredible eyesight and is exceptional at spotting wildlife, ensuring that we didn’t miss a single thing. He was also incredibly attentive, accommodating to our needs, always punctual, highly knowledgeable, and a joy to travel with. Would totally recommend anyone that is coming to Kenya to book with Meektrails, and ask for Peter!

Great communication, great guide
I definitely recommend Meektrails to organize a safari. We had a 6 day trip to 5 different parcs.thanks to our guide, Philip, we were able to see magnificient views and breathtaking scenes with animals. He is an amazing human being that made us laugh many times.

An unforgettable Kenyan adventure!
Our safari with Meektrails was an unforgettable experience from start to finish! Charles curated a seamless itinerary through Amboseli, Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara, ensuring smooth transfers and great accommodations.
Our guide James Waisha was exceptional - knowledgeable, friendly, and skilled at spotting wildlife. Thanks to him, we saw the Big Five (including a rare leopard) and many other animals. His knowledge of animal behavior, local culture, and conservation efforts added immense depth to our experience. The lodges and luxury tented camps were comfortable, offering breathtaking views and delicious meals, with dietary needs well accommodated.
Meektrails met our expectations in every way. Their attention to detail, exceptional guides, and commitment to responsible tourism made our Kenya safari truly unforgettable. If you’re looking for a hassle-free, well-organized, and immersive safari experience, Meektrails is the way to go!

Very beautiful
Overall, we had a very good stay. Everything was done to make the trip enjoyable. Here are, in my opinion, the positive and negative points.
Positive points:
- Beautiful parks, we were very lucky since we saw many animals including 4/5 of the big five
- The landscapes were beautiful in every way: savannah, Kilimanjaro...
- The hotels were perfect: view, restaurant, pool... everything was gathered to spend a pleasant stay
- The exchange with Pauline was great, she booked us a program adapted to our expectations
- Peter, the guide, was very kind and knew many things about animals
- The guide gave us a pleasant surprise: we had the chance to discover Masai Mara on foot in order to observe crocodiles and hippos
- The guide was a very good driver regardless of the terrain we used
- Peter took us to the typical Massai village, we could discover their customs and it was very enriching from a cultural point of view
Negative points:
- Peter was regularly late, and did not bother to warn us
- Transfer times entered in the program were not real, distances between locations are very long (sometimes double what was written)
- Peter was regularly tired, especially in the afternoon, which made the safari less enjoyable. We were afraid that he would fall asleep at the wheel and had to be vigilant.... We told him about this problem several times.
To conclude, we highly recommend this company which has many assets.
Thank you to the whole team for letting us discover your beautiful country.
