Perfect!
We did a 4 day safari, Amboseli, Tsavo West and East.
We really enjoyed our trip with driver Gordon. Communication about our wishes went very smoothly via email. It was also nice that there was the option to pay by credit card.
Great trip, our guide Gordon was very nice
We had a great safari and saw all of the big 5. Our guide was very accommodating and we were very comfortable the whole trip. I would recommend using Mateos
The most beautiful trip of my life 😊
There were three of us travelling and we booked the safari with a jeep and a trip to Nairobi National Park.
I recommend the provider because he is absolutely reliable, friendly and professional.
Thank you Patrick for the good organisation of the safari!
Our driver was Livingstone. He is very experienced and competent. He knows an incredible amount about the animals and knows the parks inside and out. He is also a very pleasant and great person and an incredibly good jeep driver! We felt safe at all times.
Thank you Livingstone for your patience with us!
On the first day we were picked up from the apartment on time by Patrick and Livingstone. We spent the morning in Nairobi National Park and were able to see rhinos, antelopes, crocodiles, lions, zebras and giraffes. We also visited the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust to watch the baby elephants. It was a really successful, great trip! Afterwards we had a delicious meal together with Patrick and Livingstone in a lovely restaurant.
On the second day we drove to the Masai Mara early in the morning. We decided not to visit the park that same day because the entrance fee of 200 US dollars was too expensive for us. Instead, we planned the trip with more breaks. So the men had a cold beer more often and I had a cappuccino. 😊The trip itself was entertaining because there was always something interesting for us to see. The landscape, motorbikes transporting sofas or 4 people, cows, donkeys and goats next to and on the road and many, many potholes.
The Goshen Mara Camp is near the Masai Mara National Park entrance. That was convenient. The camp is simple, clean and has friendly staff. Electricity is available from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. I recommend bringing a flashlight or camping lamp. The camp is guarded day and night. The food was better than expected. A few monkeys made a lot of noise but otherwise it was very quiet.
You can charge your cell phone and power bank at any time in the jeep as it has a voltage converter built in and there are several USB plugs in the vehicle. Otherwise, just bring a cigarette lighter plug with you.
It was quite cold at night. So don't forget warm clothes!
The Masai Mara itself is a dream! We saw many, many animals. We took a coffee break at the Keekorok Mara Lodge. There we were able to watch hippos. Great lodge!
On the 3rd day we drove to Nakuru. Another great road trip! It is 190 km from the Masai Mara to Nakuru and it takes 4.5 hours. The landscape was very beautiful to look at and much greener than we imagined.
The Nakuru National Park is rather small but nice. It rained a little which made the trip in the park a little adventure. The park is also very beautiful and rich in animals.
We chose The Cabin Villa as our accommodation. The accommodation is really recommendable but the journey was too long for our tight schedule. I would choose the accommodation again but stay 2 nights. Otherwise, listen to Patrick and choose his recommended accommodation.
The journey from Nakuru to Amboseli National Park takes about 7 hours (362 km). The journey leads back to Nairobi and then on to Amboseli.
We stayed at the Penety Resort. A new lodge with a swimming pool, delicious food and good service. You have a great view of Kilimanjaro.
For me, the dusty Amboseli National Park with its herds of elephants was the highlight. See photos! Here we also visited a beautiful lodge in the park. We could see the elephants walking past while drinking coffee. It was just great!
On the last morning we had to get up early to get to Emali on time. Livingstone gave us the tickets and accompanied us to the front of the train.
The pastries are scanned like at the airport. Alcohol and lighters have to be handed over. Drinks in plastic bottles are not a problem.
Beer and snacks were available to buy on the train. The journey to Mombasa takes about 4 hours. It's a nice change from the many hours in the car. The comfort on the train is good. Peter was waiting for us in Mombasa and took us to our accommodation.
Price/performance, the organization, the driver and guide, the accommodation and also the food were all good! Top organizer! You can book without hesitation and save a lot of money compared to the travel agency.

Amazing Guide, great value!
We had an amazing trip from Nairobi via masaai mara, lake Nakuru, and Amboseli, ending in Mombasa. Before the during the trip Mateo travel and adventure were very quick to respond to any questions and requests we had about booking confirmation, travel around Kenya etc.
Our guide Gordonne was so knowledgeable along the animals and we saw more than we could have dreamed of! After he realised we weren't just there to tick animals off he spent long watching the less exciting animals on our request.
Our only minor issue was the comfort of the truck between the national parks as we are both over 6ft and had to bend over to see out of the window (Not an issue in the parks with the roof open. But seeing as they are priced much lower than most tours out the of the same length we can't complain!
Smooth organization.
The Communication with Patrick from Mateo Travel was easy and he organized everything for us.
The Guide Msaga was very experienced and we were lucky to see the Big 5 on our Amboseli and Tsavo Trip.
