Unforgettable Experience
We had such an incredible trip! The three days in the Serengeti were definitely the highlight—the landscape felt surreal, and we were able to see so many animals from a breathtakingly close distance.
A huge thank you to Almacius for the seamless arrangements, to Lobulu for his tireless driving and constant care, and to Buga for the delicious food that we looked forward to every single day.

Amazing 5 day safari with Max
We just got back from a 5-day budget safari, great experience with Meru!!
We started researching operators a few months in advance but ended up confirming only a week before starting the safari. We decided on Meru Slopes after reading the reviews on various sites (this site, google, instagram), they provided good value for money, seemed serious and reliable. We were not wrong!
- Pre/Post-safari: they were very accommodating and flexible. We found that not having to worry about hotel nights + roundtrip airport transfers was an added bonus and good value for money. The hotel is simple but nice and the transfers on time and with very nice staff. We also liked getting sim cards on arrival. These things made us feel looked after by the company and just adds to the overall positive experience.
-During safari: our guide Max was very knowledgeable and always took us to the best spots for finding the animals. We liked that he was keen to leave early and punctual in order to maximise the chances. He was respectful and responsible with the welfare of the animals and the parks - we were visitors in their home. Even with this, he made sure we saw all of the famous 5 and also the ‘ugly’ 5! The chef (Johanni) prepared tasty meals throughout, even for the picnic lunch - we appreciate that no plastic waste was created, as some companies seemed to provide fast food style packaging.
We will definitely recommend Meru (and Max!) to anyone looking to visit!

An Unforgettable Safari with Max and Johanna
We had an absolutely fantastic safari experience from December 31st to January 5th, and we couldn’t be happier with how everything was organized.
Our guide and driver, Max, was truly exceptional. He is incredibly knowledgeable and has a real talent for explaining animals and their behavior in a clear and engaging way. What made the experience even more special was his genuine passion for wildlife, which he transmitted to us every day. On top of that, he was always friendly, funny, and extremely helpful, making the long days on safari both exciting and enjoyable.
A special mention also goes to our chef, Johanna, who was amazing. He was very kind and always smiling, and the food was absolutely delicious. We really appreciated having hot, freshly prepared meals every day, especially compared to other tour operators we saw who only offered packed or canned food. This made a huge difference in comfort and overall experience.
One of the highlights was the New Year’s Eve dinner, complete with a cake to celebrate the end of the year. It was such a thoughtful touch and made the celebration in the middle of the safari truly unforgettable.
Overall, this safari exceeded all our expectations. Professional organization, passionate people, great food, and unforgettable moments. We highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a high-quality and authentic safari experience.

Incredible experience and company!
My husband and I just completed our 11 day safari with Meru Slopes Safari & Tours. From the moment we began planning Kelvin was available for any and all questions we had. He helped us find a tour that was in our budget, and the results of his efforts were wonderful! Our safari included entrance to Lake Manyara Park, Serengeti National Park with a hot air balloon excursion, Ngorangora Conservation Park, Tarangire Park, and Materuni Waterfall and Village. To stay within our budget we chose tent camping in the game parks, which I was a bit worried about. Meru Slopes provided the tent, mattresses, sleeping bags, and pillows that we needed without having to worry about packing and flying any of those things.
We were greeted at Kilimanjaro Airport and safely delivered to our room. Mohammed (Muddy) was our driver and guide on all game drives, and he knows the parks like the back of his hand. We saw so many animals-and so many more than a lot of fellow safari guests we ran across during our time. His English is very good, and his sense of camaraderie and humour made us feel so comfortable with him. Muddy knows how important photography is to us guests and is well practiced in choosing prime angles for the best shots and never became frustrated with our request to “please stop here for a photo of ….whatever-even a bug!” We were so sad saying goodbye to him yesterday!
Our personal chef, Dulla, provided wonderful traditional African meals that we enjoyed every day. I think we both gained a few pounds from all the good food that was provided. Our favourite foods were an egg bread for breakfast and his banana custard!
Our final tour today was to Materuni Waterfall and Village. The drive was long and arduous, and our driver and guide, Edson, did an amazing job maneuvering heavy traffic and bumpy roads to keep us completely safe. He even went above and beyond to stop at a post office and currency exchange for us!
Meru Slopes is a Tanzanian owned and operated company, which was very important to us when choosing a safari company for our dream trip. We wanted our money staying in the country and helping the locals. My husband and I are in the tourism industry in Canada and know the importance of exemplary customer service. Meru Slopes provided just that. The memories we are going home with are absolutely amazing.
