Informative and welcoming!
We did the City Tour of Addis Ababa with Liyu, and our guide was Amanueal. Amanueal and our driver were perfectly on time and helped us to withdraw some cash for our souvenirs (which was not included in the tour). Our tour was very comprehensive and informative. We learned a lot about Ethiopia and enjoyed every minute of it. We particularly enjoyed the visit of the Ethnographic Museum, the St George Church and our coffee time at the Train Station. If you want to have an overview of Addis, do not hesitate do book it. We highly recommend it!

Highlight of traveling Ethiopia
It was the highlight of my time in Ethiopia.
I strongly suggest booking this course as the beginning of your journey in Ethiopia.
I was quite surprised that it felt like a private course—they didn’t cancel even though I was the only one who booked.
From the very beginning, everything was great. On the way to the local market, Oli and Abraham drove me past famous attractions and provided explanations. This overall introduction alone will be incredibly helpful for the rest of your journey.
At the local market, I had plenty of time to explore. (If you’re looking for something other than spices, you can ask them to help you find it.)
After that, we went to their home (not a model house). The place was truly nice and peaceful.
This cooking class wasn’t just about learning skills. It was a beautiful opportunity to better understand the lives of local people, experience how they share food with their families, and learn about their coffee-making and drinking traditions.
Compared to other cooking classes I’ve taken in different countries, this one was among the best in terms of quality and approach. When you talk with the main host, Yhun, you’ll realize how thoughtfully they have designed this tour.
I advised them to include more photos and descriptions because I genuinely want more people to know about this amazing experience.
I initially thought three hours would be too short, but the tour lasted around five hours (maybe because I took my time?). They never complained.
If you have any specific requests, I recommend messaging them in advance. I didn’t, but they were incredibly flexible and will make your journey even more special.
One regret I have is that I didn’t think to take a group photo with their family before leaving.

Simply the best and even better
A good trip starts with the great booking experience. I know we were not the easiest costumers as we had far too many requests and modification requirements and individual preferences, but all these were not only taken into account but for every e-mail and whatsup message we got a reply within 1/2 hour but often within minutes. The payment procedure was also simple and easy.
On our midnight arrival at Addis Ababa airport we were greeted by our driver and transferred to our hotel. The real adventure started the following morning when Yhun the company’s manager joined us and became our guide for the entire Omo Valley tour. What an experience! We decided to skip the domestic flights and the journey was done with their comfortable minibus (or rather midibus), more than enough space for 3. Before reaching the tribes of the Omo Valley region we had a stop in Hawassa and also in Arba Minch, at both places we stayed in the Haile Resorts. Great properties, completely up to European standards. Once you reach the Valley one can feel that he/she is part of a time travel while visiting beautiful people and their villages. The accommodation options are simple, but the cleanliness is never compromised, also we always had great breakfast, 24 hr electricity and wi-fi. It is almost impossible to explain how mesmerizing it is to meet the various tribes and see how they live their everyday life. Been to 162 countries, this is among the top travel experiences. Our guide Yhun was the most professional, he shared with us lots of stories, information, but never too much. He has a great ability to sense his guests wishes and intentions and he can immediately react on them and accommodate any ad hoc requests. In extra we got a great introduction to Ethiopian jazz and several times we were surprised with delicious fruits, honey sweet banana, mango.
The whole journey went exactly as it was described in the accepted itinerary, only minor modifications needed because of the circumstances. E.g we swapped programs within the day. We got what we paid for and much more, a professional tour, a safe journey, loads of laughs and great conversations, I should also mention our driver, who navigated us safely through the sometimes challenging roads. (Never seen so many cattle and goats crossing the roads) 😂. Ethiopia is great country it should be proud of its heritage and it offers a wonderful time to its visitors. Would return anytime and would recommend Liyu Ethiopia Tours to everyone who looks for a safe, well organized, rich and fun experience.
Incredible 16 day tour of Ethiopia
I recently took a 16 day tour of Ethiopia with Liyu Ethiopia Tours and it was an incredible experience. The tour, the communication and the organisation were all outstanding.
I decided not to go with one of the tours that is listed on the website and engaged with Yhun, who was super helpful and accommodating with my many requests. Together, we were able to put together the itinerary that I really wanted to do. I went to the north (Axum, Lalibela, Gondar, Bahir Dar, Simien Mountains), south (Turmi, Arba Minch, Omo Valley) and east (Dallol and Danakil Depression).
Throughout the process, Yhun was extremely professional and, importantly, upfront about any safety issues. Also, at the end of the tour, he visited me with a small gift to say thank you, even though it was me who needed to be thanking him.
Once I got to Ethiopia, everything was arranged like clockwork. I was always picked up and dropped off at the airport on time, with my boarding passes always being sent well in advance. The local guides were all professional and very good and were all well organised to ensure smooth transitions.
Exploring Ethiopia was a dream - it’s an amazing country with a fascinating culture, beautiful nature, friendly people and phenomenal food. Thanks to Liyu Ethiopia Tours, I feel like I got the most out of my very busy itinerary. I would recommend them wholeheartedly.

Truly an unforgettable Oma Valley Ethiopia
Communication with Yhun is top notch . He respond quickly on my queries. There was an issue coming in from Eritrea to Ethiopia because there’s no more straight flight connection between these 2 countries so I have to modify my Eritrea trip to be on time to my scheduled trip in Ethiopia . I’m glad I did . Even if we were in the middle of nowhere there’s a hotel, lodge that was pick very well by Yhun that we can rest and be comfortable on . This is an expectacular country to visit the culture , the people and the food . Visiting the Omo Valley with many tribes is such an eye opener . From Arba Minch, to Konso,
To lower Omo valley , to Turin , to Jinka to the Mago National park and then the city Addis Ababa. The 5 days we stayed here are full of excitement and activities
My trip will not be as exciting if we don’t have our funny , loud ( in a good way) very charismatic guide Tarek. And our good driver Adam . Tarek is very enthusiastic showing us the different tribes , even found a tribe gathering/ festivities in our way which is unplanned but very nice that we stop and able to join their festivities. He is not a stranger to anyone he meet which makes ourselves easy to immerse in the cultures and traditions they have .
This trip is very well planned and having a good guide and even having to meet local guides is interesting blend of information we have received .
I definitely enjoyed my trip to Ethiopia . I wish I have more time to see more of the country . If you are looking for a tour company to enjoy this beautiful country . Look no further .
