Excellent time on a 9-day-Rwanda-Uganda-Safari with Hooves of Africa
We (my wife and I) did a 9-day Safari in Rwanda and Uganda and we had an unforgettable time and would absolutly suggest Hooves of Africa - they did a great job!
We adapted a standard tour and started in Kigali and visited the golden monkeys in Volcanoes National Park (NP). We then saw the gorillas in Bwindi NP and had a stop at beautiful Lake Bunyonyi before heading to Queen Elisabeth NP to do a Safari. Afterwards we saw chimps in Kibale Forest and ended the trip in Entebbe. We are very satisfied and spent an awesome time, thanks to the organisation of Hoves!
-Dickson was responsible for the administrative staff: He always answered very quickly and was very flexible in adapting our programm. Even tough we just booked rather before the start of the trip, he managed to get permits for golden monkey, gorillas and chimps. He also welcomed us in Kigali and gave us the first instructions about the trip
-Elton was the guide of our tour: He was responsible to guide us from Kigali to Entebbe and everything in between. He is an excellent guide and was explaining us nature and animals, background of the countries and much more in a profound and entertaining way. We enjoyed every second with him and definitely found not just a very good guide but also a friend.
Due to the perfect team work we had the pleasure to enjoy great nature, impressive animals (gorillas, chimps, golden monkeys, lions, elephants, buffalos, hippos, wilderbeests, whombats, antilopes,...), nice hotels (we especially liked Embogo lodge, Turaco Tree tops Lodge and Arcadia Lodges Lake Bunyonyi), superb food and realised what great places Rwanda and Uganda can offer and would definetely recommend to do it with Hooves and if possible Elton as a guide!
Thank you very much!

Everything was perfect
Very serious company, our guide Norman always present, friendly, expert. Tour very well organized.
Lodge super

Once in lifetime travel with Hooves of Africa
Travellin' with Hooves of Africa has been a wonderful experience and I couldn't ask for a better travel company.
Since the First contact the owner Dickson has been very kind and fast answerin' to every question and doubt and hel me with documents.
He helped us to arrange the best travel to fit our requests (we decided to start from Kigali instead of Entebbe).
Our choosen guide was Norman a young but already very expert guy that was helpful in every aspect of our travel.
Gentle, calm, very good driver, always tryin' to make us feel supported in every thing we could need.
In Queen Elizabeth Park even After a long drivin' session he tried a last chance to see tree climbing Lion and we had suxcess!
We Also saw Leopards among the trees, then Hyppos and a big group of 30 elephants in channelel boat safari
Bwindi and Kibale forest were the highlights seein' primates as close as I dreamed. Two different kinds of experiences equally to remember.
Stayin' at the Lodges they choosed we're all beautiful and different experiences.
Hooves Of Africa can make your dreamed travel to Uganda come true and also has to offer One of the more affordable options you can find around.
Hooves of Africa definitely deserves all your trust!
Great guide, very knowledgeable, helped to get to know the local people and surroundings.
It was great doing business with Hooves of Africa. They streamlined and changed the trip itinerary (Gorilla trekking) to exactly what I wanted. I had the flexibility to stay longer at places I liked. Their choice of accommodation was acceptable (budget). All provided great rooms with great bedding, food and space to enjoy time. The guide and driver they provided was excellent. He knew his way around and always found the best spots. Communication with the company was good, very responsive also via phone.
The payment could have been a bit easier via credit card without extra fees.
Overall, they are very reliable, and you get what you want not what they try to sell you. Definitely would book with them again.
Hooves for the win!
We recently booked an intense 3-day trip to Bwindi Uganda to trek with gorillas. It’s something l’ll never forget. The highlight, of course, was coming face-to-face with a family of mountain gorillas in their natural habitat but Hooves of Africa balanced that intense trek with stunning and relaxing accommodation in the Ugandan mountain forest and a calm lake, which were really nice. One required a boat to access.
Meals were well-prepared, and the staff were warm and attentive to our separate dietary requirements which were met without fuss.
Our guide was knowledgeable and clearly passionate about his country and local city, sharing fascinating insights about the their culture and the nature around the area. He was very friendly, welcoming and keen to look after us. Also a very talented photographer!
The gorilla trek itself was challenging, with uneven terrain and dense vegetation, but the experience was well worth the effort. Proper footwear (hiking boots) is essential. I appreciated that the group sizes were small, which made it less disruptive to the wildlife. Unfortunately, the 7m distance restriction was not respected by all tourists in the group. I believe the guards could be more strict about it but ultimately that’s not the responsibility of Hooves of Africa, rather the national park rangers.
Overall, this safari struck a perfect balance between adventure, relaxation and ecotourism. Highly recommend it for nature lovers and those seeking a deeper connection with wildlife.
