My husband and I were in Tanzania last week. This week we did a city tour of Dar es Salaam with the markets, a boat crossing to the beaches and we met Daudi's family and Bibi. Bibi from Asante Bibi. We went to Bagamoyo and walked in Pugu NP. We went to Mikuma NP by train via Morogorro. Visited the Masai, took a tour of Mikuma and a walk through Udzungwa NP. A car everywhere, a guide with a lot of knowledge and bottled water. I love photography, so Daudi arranged the best guides for us, who helped us capture the most beautiful birds and animals. Without Daudi we would never have been able to experience Tanzania so intensely and we are infinitely grateful to him.
A wonderful experience
We found this tour operator by searching online and we couldn't have made a better choice. The guide and his assistant picked us up at our hotel in Arusha and after 4 days of safari they accompanied us to Mwanza, accommodating all our requests. Patrick was an exceptional guide: knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. With him we discovered the wonders of Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti seeing splendid animals and breathtaking views. We appreciated the choice of accommodation and not least the personalized jeep and t-shirts!
We will definitely recommend Asante Bibi!

This is the best safari service in Tanzania—without a doubt!
Daudi is an excellent organizer, and you can be sure that with him, you’re in safe hands. We went on a three-day safari in Mikumi Park, and we didn’t expect to see so much. I'll divide my review into two parts: the experience with Asante Bibi and a review of the park itself. I believe this will be helpful, as I will also compare Mikumi to Serengeti (where we did a self-drive safari).
Why we recommend Daudi and Asante Bibi:
Everything was taken care of, and we didn’t have to worry about a thing. They put us on the fast train, picked us up, and brought us to a hotel near Mikumi. My birthday was the next day, and Daudi surprised me. While visiting a Maasai village, the Maasai unexpectedly brought out a cake and celebrated in their traditional way. It was unforgettable and felt like full cultural immersion!
Outstanding Guide: Daudi has an incredible guide in Mikumi. I noticed that other safari vehicles only had a driver with the tourists. But we had both a driver and a guide. While one drove, the other used binoculars to spot animals and birds. Thanks to this, we often reached the animals before other groups. Moreover, the guide knew the scientific names of every species—flora and fauna—had a professional education, and used a catalog to show and explain what we were seeing.
Best Choice for Bird Photography: If you love photographing birds, Asante Bibi is your best choice. For the first time, we met someone who knew so much about birds and could spot them so skillfully even while driving.
We saw the “Big 3” in Mikumi in a single day. We watched lions training their young to hunt and saw a buffalo herd driving off a pride of lions. We didn’t spot a leopard, but you need luck to see them since they hide so well. Overall, we were 100% satisfied with our trip with Asante Bibi.
Part 2: Mikumi vs. Serengeti
We also visited Serengeti during our trip, renting a Land Cruiser without a driver and doing a self-drive safari for three days. Many tourists skip Mikumi in favor of the more famous Serengeti, which is a big mistake—and here’s why:
Serengeti is Enormous: It’s huge. You’ll see large herds of thousands of impalas, zebras, or wildebeests, which is impressive. However, you quickly get used to it, and most people are actually looking for big cats and predators. This requires a lot of luck since predators are often far from the roads. During our self-drive, we noticed clusters of vehicles, which usually indicated something interesting was spotted. We also asked guides where we might find animals. Some tourists we met on their way back to the airport had been on a two-day safari and hadn’t seen any big cats at all—it’s hard to imagine their disappointment.
What We Saw in Serengeti: We were lucky to see a pride of lionesses with cubs, a cheetah, and all herbivores (except rhinos). Over three days, we searched for a leopard but never found one, nor did we see any hyenas. No one else saw them either during those days, as they were likely far from the roads.
After several days of driving on extremely rough gravel roads in Serengeti, you’ll feel much more physically tired than after a day in Mikumi.
Mikumi is Smaller but Well-Designed: Mikumi is also a large park, but it felt like the game drive roads were more thoughtfully laid out. Safari in Mikumi is less expensive, and your chances of spotting predators in less time are much higher—especially with a guide and driver like the ones from Asante Bibi. In Serengeti, you need more time, and luck plays a bigger role. While Serengeti’s massive herds are impressive, we didn’t witness any “action” there. Luck is critical in Serengeti, and we simply didn’t have enough.
We highly recommend both Asante Bibi and Mikumi. Serengeti is also worth visiting—the large herds are breathtaking—but keep in mind that it’s more expensive, more time-consuming, and more physically demanding.
Wonderfull days in pole pole way
Some advise first. Do it slow, don't rush. Take more days and enjoy. We did. We choose 4 days safari. We had enough time to rest after flight, visit Masai village, take a game drive and finally hike in Udzungwa mountains.
We had very good contact with Daudi - the tour operator - all the time. Many weeks before we discussed tour details on WhatsApp and finally everything was as agreed.
Asante bibi staff is very caring. We felt safe all the time. Abel was our guide on safari. He is very experienced and game drive was great experience.
Atupele camp is very nice place just like their staff. It takes 15-20 minutes to reach mikumi park main entrance.
We don't want to go to Sanje waterfalls so Daudi suggested easiest alternative Chizua waterfalls. It was great. Margareth was our guide on that day. My wife had a problem with her leg so Abel also joined us. Once again we felt very safe.
The most unique part of tour was train. It was genius idea. In 1h and 40 minutes you get from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro. It is very comfortable and very good alternative for car drive.
We highly recommend taking safari and other tour with Asante bibi tours. The price was very affordable and it was very good value for money. They are flexible and can adopt to your requirements.
Asante Bibi Safaris is a great opportunity to have an authentic experience in Tanzania
Definitely must do!
We went to Nierere National park and it had been amazing, thanks do David, CEO of Asante Bibi, our amazing driver Matata and out other guide (we called her Gloria, but probably a mistake from us)
We were 4 and I would like to specify the initial context. We booked another safari while we were back in Italy (unfortunately we did not find Asante Bibi from there) and in the same morning we were supposed to live the tour operator told us they had a serious problem and we could not go anymore! We started to look for other tour operators to leave on the same day and David (at 6 am local time!!!) told us “ok sure we can go!”. He personally came to pick us up with Matata at our hotel in Dar es Salaam to start our adventure. After about 5 hours drive we made it to the park and we did a boat safari in the afternoon while on the day after we did the jeep safari spending the full day the park. On third day we visited a Masai village and then we left perfectly on time to make it to our ferry to Zanzibar.
During the safari we saw many animals observing them very closely. A GREAT plus has been that we slept in a local lodge close to the village and Gloria has been super nice and took us around to see a bit the life there at night. Our walk finished by listening Gloria trying the songs at the church with her group. It has been AMAZING!!!
