Mount Kenya and Ol Pajeta
We booked a Mount Kenya hike and safari directly with Olengugih safaris after finding them online. Communication before we went to Kenya was good and very professional. Kelvin was our guide and he was brilliant from the moment he picked us up at the airport. We hiked up and over Mount Kenya, stayed at Ol Pajeta to visit the last northern white rhinos (he made sure we saw the big five too!), a night at lake Naivasha and biking to hells gate. He was very knowledgeable about the animals and informative about his country. When we asked to make a detour for a visit somewhere he accommodated it no problem. Top guy and a great trip.
Relaxed safari with great organization
We went with Olengugih Safaris for a 1-day trip to Amboseli National Park. We booked the safari from Germany and the whole communication in advance was super uncomplicated and very nice. All questions were answered within a few minutes and payment was also problem-free. On the day of the safari itself, Kelvin and his colleague picked us up from our hotel right on time at the agreed time. The drive to Amboseli was relaxed and pleasant. On the safari itself, we saw lots of great animals and Kelvin made an effort to give us all of his information. The included lunch was excellently chosen and very tasty. The only thing we would do differently in the future would be to plan at least 2 days for this tour. Otherwise, it is a bit tiring to set off early in the morning and return in the evening. Apart from that, everything was perfect.
Great Experience all around
Our tour guide Kelvin was amazing and so friendly, he communicated in advanced over WhatsApp which made it very easier and he was able to help with every aspect of booking and payment. He picked us up promptly and we were very well catered for with water and breaks while driving, very polite and knowledgeable. We were also joined by an aspiring female guide which was great to have an extra person, she was very nice and professional as well.
Kelvin was extremely knowledgeable and went out of his way to make sure we saw everything and had a great time :) the camp we stayed at was very nice, however we were only there for 1 night.
We did have some minor car troubles (not anyone's fault) when trying to leave Amboseli which Kelvin managed promptly and professionally and his priority was making sure he could get us back safely.
We booked short notice, 3 weeks in advance so it was always going to be more costly (I assume) but still - great value for money and very much worth it.
Would highly recommend!
Perfect short trip
Had a short stopover in Nairobi and decided to go on a mini safari trip with Olengugih. The pick up was punctual and my guide was super amicable and knowledgeable.
In the three hours it was full of pleasant surprises. I saw lions calmly roaming amongst tourist vans and countless giraffes. There were even Nile crocodiles. My guide was able to avoid crowds and stopped at every opportunity for spotting some wildlife. The lunch afterwards was authentic and tasty.
Would highly recommend!
My tour guide was very knowledgeable, engaging, enthusiastic and professional.
We had a great time on tour with our tour guides from Olengugih. They met us on time to pick us from the hotel and we were well taken care of from the start. They packed our luggage into the Land Cruiser and headed to Samburu. They spent time getting to know us and pointed our landmarks and sights during our long drive to the first park. Once we arrived at our lodge we settled in, had some lunch and set out on our first game drive.
We saw so many animals on our first day! Elephants, unique birds, antelope, giraffes, predators… Each time we stopped the guides gave us a wealth of information about the area, the animals, their eating/hunting/mating habits. I learned so much because of how knowledgeable and engaging our guides. I’m not kidding when I say I took thousands of pictures during our trip.
We spent a couple of days at our first lodge and they were punctual for all our scheduled activities. They made sure that we got to see all the animals that were unique to our park and I’m so happy that we got to see the big five even though it was low season. They were great about changing the schedule if we were feeling tired or needed to grab some food. When headed to our next lodge at Naivasha we did move a boating activity because of how long the drive took and the weather turned on us. We went the next morning and it was so beautiful that the time we spent on the lake was perfect. It made it such a pleasant experience knowing that we weren’t being rushed and could relax and enjoy our vacation.
Our last park was Masai Mara and we had so much fun. We got to spend time at a couple Masai villages during our trip and one of the Masai joined us on our last game drive! He knew so much about the area and I really liked getting to know him too. I was bummed when we had to head back to Nairobi on our last day. Made me wish we had booked a longer trip to see more parks and hang out with our guides for longer.
I can’t recommend this company enough. The planning was excellent and we were well taken care of. This was a once in a lifetime trip with my boyfriend and I can’t wait to plan another one with them! :)
